Recently Senseily launched successfully on Dealify. We sat down with founders Gerard & Ricard to talk about what makes a good SaaS launch and why the team decided, just like many other companies -to collaborate with an experienced platform for promoting a lifetime deal by partnering up with Dealify!
I would like to recommend it to everyone thinking about launching an LTD campaign. It is definitely worth it.
Tell us a bit about your background.
So, we’re Ricard Pons and Gerard Pons, both 29 years old, from Barcelona, Spain. We’re the founders of Senseily, and we’re actually twins. We’ve been working together for many years now. We’ve been doing it remotely these last years since my brother Ricard moved to Tokyo, Japan, and I moved to London, UK.
Ricard is the CTO and the leading developer of the company. He’s a full-stack web developer with 8+ years of experience. He’s been working on many SaaS projects and is in charge of the platform’s development. He’s been working remotely from Tokyo for a couple years now.
I am the CEO, and I’m a self-taught designer and front-end developer. I have a BA in Business Administration. I also have a sales background as I own a real estate agency in Barcelona. I’m in charge of the company’s administration, and I do design and marketing tasks too. I moved to London, UK, for a couple years but moved back to Barcelona when the pandemic started.
Senseily is a small team at the moment. We’re the two founders and some freelancers to do punctual work. However, we’re starting to grow and will be hiring new team members soon.
How did you start Senseily? What’s the story?
So our story is not that special. It’s pretty straightforward. We were in the process of creating and selling a couple white label online courses about coding and web design but couldn’t find the right tool for us. Since the market is growing exponentially, we said: let’s build one! After showing the software we made for ourselves to our colleagues and friends, they told us how much they liked it, so we started to build a platform for more people to enjoy.
After doing some research, we realised how every creator/educator uses different methods or approaches to sell their products. We wanted to build a flexible tool to help every creator and educator sell their products (courses, coaching, classes…). We also aimed to make it simple for them to increase revenue by upselling and cross-selling additional products.
What made you decide to run a deal on Dealify?
We were looking for ways to get enough cash to cover the costs of the platform and speed up the development process. After unsuccessfully trying other methods such as crowdfunding, we saw people leaving great opinions of Dealify on the Indie Hackers community. So, I checked up Dealify online, and we decided to give it a try.
How was the process / How did the deal perform on Dealify?
I must say our experience with Dealify has been fantastic, and it surpassed all expectations we had. Since I first contacted Dealify, Tom has been very supportive and made the process extremely easy and enjoyable. They did a great job preparing the deal page.
The deal performed excellent and better than we expected. Even though we run a shorter deal than the average on Dealify, we were delighted with the results. We will repeat without any doubt in the future.
What are your tips for potential partners thinking of running a deal on Dealify?
Based on what we learnt from our experience on Dealify, I would mainly recommend three things to potential partners:
- Prepare every aspect of your deal with plenty of time and dedication. Plan some marketing and visibility actions as well.
- Be prepared to reply to questions, feedback, and requests from users and potential customers.
- Make sure to test your product profoundly before the deal goes live, or you will have to work harder during the deal as many bugs and errors will appear as users use it.
What would be your advice for other SaaS founders
The main advice I would give to other SaaS founders would be:
- Startups must be fast. If you take your foot off the gas, you won’t slow down. You’ll go backwards instead. So, keep moving fast.
- Take bad comments and critical feedback sportingly. Don’t let your pride or the love for your product take bad words personally. Instead, understand them and use them to build a better product that your users want and need.
- Keep constantly learning and surround yourself with like-minded and successful people.
I just want to personally thank the Dealify team for their help with our campaign. Also, I would like to recommend it to everyone thinking about launching an LTD campaign. It is definitely worth it.
