What is the difference between a Smart DNS service and a VPN?

A Smart DNS service only re-routes SOME of your Internet connections via overseas servers. A VPN reroutes ALL of your Internet traffic via an overseas server. Also, Smart DNS provides no encrption or privacy, whereas a VPN does (all traffic between your device and the VPN server is encrypted).

Getflix provides a Smart DNS service, but each active account also comes with a free, optional Full VPN as well!

What is the difference between DNSover-VPN and VPN?

DNS-over-VPN is a special VPN service that allows you to access our Smart DNS servers in situations where you otherwise can't (e.g. hotel or public WiFi). Only DNS traffic is routed via the VPN, so it doesn't provide any encryption or privacy.

Think of it as an alternative way of accessing our DNS servers. A regular VPN (or Full VPN) re-routes ALL of your Internet traffic via an overseas server and provides encryption and privacy between your device and the VPN server.

Getflix provides both DNS-over-VPN (free with all accounts) as well as a Full VPN service (free with all paid accounts)!

Does Getflix work in hotel rooms and other public WiFi hotspots?

Is Getflix Safe to Use?

Yes — Getflix is safe. While your DNS requests pass through our servers, we don’t log, track, or archive your activity. The only time limited logging is enabled is for troubleshooting, and only with your explicit permission.

Most DNS requests are simply forwarded to public servers, and only streaming-related ones (like Netflix or Hulu) are rerouted. Even then, connections are HTTPS encrypted, meaning no one — including us — can see your content.

Your privacy remains fully protected.

Does Getflix give me free access to Netflix, Hulu, or other paid services?

No. While Getflix unlocks and provides access to different regions for supported channels, you still need an active subscription with that streaming service.

For example, if you have a paid Indian Netflix subscription but want to watch U.S. content, Getflix lets you connect through a U.S. server to unlock the U.S. catalog.
