I purchased the credits for $10 and ran two experiments.
Created my own information source from the dataset - it contains journalistic and forensic investigations of fraudsters in 2018-2020 with specific cases, names, companies, court judgements. Independently developed a table of contents (TOC). Described the book. Provided a sample of my author style to follow. This sample already included one written first chapter of the book. In the ‘Book structure preference’ settings, I moved the slider one division to the left. Started the process and got the finished book in 2 hours. The result: any facts from the data source were ignored. The text of the book contained only general ‘good vs. bad’ reasoning. We call that ‘pouring water’. Absolutely empty text, as if it was written by a ChatGPT 3.5 programme from a year ago. Not a single name, company name, court judgements - nothing was taken. The source was ignored. But fragments from my style sample were integrated into the book. But not where they should have been. I provided my style as the first chapter (introduction) and the programme placed it near the middle to the end of the book. The overall conclusion of the book generation from my source is rubbish. Okay. I did a second experiment. I provided all sources and descriptions in English, created a description of the author's style, not a sample style as in the first experiment. I left the structure slider ‘Balanced.’ Set ‘How should the sources influence the outline structure’ to the first option ‘No influence’. Deleted the last few chapters, reworked the content based solely on the data from the provided source - put more names and companies that are described in the source into the TOC. In other words, I directed the content to work with the source as much as possible. As a result, probably two days have already passed, and the programme cannot give me the result. I wrote to the chat on the site, left my email, but did not receive a reply. What conclusion can I draw? This is not a working programme, it does not do what it promises. I won't criticise the interface and inaccuracies in the documentation now, as there is no point, it's like discussing calligraphy on a tombstone - for the deceased it makes no difference how the letters are written.

I like the first results. If I compare to other generators, the text is more neat and more coherent.

However, even if I indicate in the instructions that I want a text in French, it sometimes produces sections in English.

In addition, it would be nice to be able to view and modify the table of contents before generating the book.

Youbooks is one of my best and favorite all time purchases. I love it.

Other content generators are limited to 400 - 600 words generation.

Youbooks doesn't 11,000 words minimum and you can up that to (I don't know it there is limit) to perhaps 10 times or more. The max I've used was 80,000.

It's great. You can enter a subject and Youbooks will do the rest.
You can adjust the slider to different degrees to be more Comprehensive (deep dive) or more Concise or leave it in the middle at Balanced.

You can also add in content sources (perahps based of an article or a list of key terms that you generated using you favorite AI tool) and content styles.

After the book is generated, you can also have it translated into other languages.

Youbooks keeps the history of you book generations for multiple downloads. You can download to .docx (the standard used by Google Doc and Microsoft Word, and perhaps other word processor programs), EPUB, MD (markdown) and RTF (rich text format).

After it's opened in Microsoft Word or Google Docs, you can save it as a PDF, if desired.

Youbooks does an outstanding job of generating a table of contents and formatting chapter headings, paragraph and sub-chapter headings.

You books does an outstanding job of generating book content, subject headings and fills in the content. It may take 3 - 8 or more hours depending on the subject and how many words you selected.

After the book is generated, I love using Microsoft Word's Read Aloud feature so read it allowed while physically reading (adjusting the speed to 2x speed) or Natural Readers (there are also many other read aloud programs) that will read it to you and/or your can read it yourself while the program simultaneously reads it aloud to you.

So, before I purchase a lifetime deal, I like to do some research.

I watched the explainer video from the founder, and saw on LinkedIn that he has an impressive engineering background. I was impressed by the level of detail with which he explained the process with which YouBooks creates books.

I signed up for YouBooks, and purchased a 50000 credits package for 5 Euro.

Actually, before I signed up, the signup process was tricky. It takes you to a page that says "Log In". When you enter an email and password (No way to sign up w Google or Facebook), the page just reloads, with no error message. I had to switch to the "sign up" page to actually sign up.

Anyway, I got in and I purchased the package. After I purchased, I got a confirmation message. However, the left-hand navigation disappeared entirely, and there was no way to navigate away from the confirmation page.

After I got past that bug, I was back in my account. Next I tried to upload a content source. I uploaded a medium sized .epub. After about 60 seconds of getting zero system feedback, I got a message saying "This book is 140000 characters, you only have 50000 characters".

That fact above is crucial. The highest tier lifetime deal only gives you up to 750000 characters per month for either content creation or source upload. In other words, upload 5 or so books, and you've reached your limit and need to purchase more characters. That to me is already a dealbreaker.

I am writing all of this because I really like the idea of this product, and would like it to succeed. But this product is SO rough and early stage, and it's only being supported by one guy in Greece, it's hard for me to give it an endorsement. IMO this is a beta test product, not something you charge money for.
